A teen was shot in the back and killed when a fight broke out at a party early today in the 7800 block of South Carpenter Street in the South Side Gresham neighborhood. The victim was at a party in a first-floor apartment when a fight broke out. Three male suspects left the party and went outside. One pulled out a handgun and fired several shots into the apartment. A bullet went through the window and struck the victim in the back. Police responded to reports of shots fired at about 2:15 a.m. He was pronounced dead at 2:56 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.


Ernest Sanford
28 years old
A man was found fatally shot early today in the 7000 block of South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in the South Side's Park Manor neighborhood at about 3:20 a.m. Police found Sanford dead on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound.


Michael Stanciel
30 years old
Police responded to a call of a person shot in the 600 block of North Homan Avenue on the West Side in the city's East Garfield Park neighborhood shortly after 11 p.m. and found Stanciel with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:51 p.m.
