Andre Wiliams was found shot to death late in the afternoon on August 2nd in the Englewood neighborhood on the city's South Side. Police were notified just before 6 p.m. that he had been discovered under a viaduct at 545 West 70th Street. Neighbors near the shooting scene said they heard as many as 19 gunshots. Several men, including Andre, were hanging out under a viaduct near the intersection trying to take refuge from the heat when a vehicle rolled up and someone inside it opened fire. Andre was the only person struck by gunfire. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
