Paul Garrette
22 years old
At about 1 a.m. Garrette was discovered in a backyard in the 8400 block of South Cregier Avenue in the Stony Island Park neighborhood. He had been shot. He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:59 a.m.
Paul worked at Walgreens at 87th & Stony Island where I shop all the time. His death was a great shock too me. He was killed just down the street. What is more shocking is that until I informed them, many of my neighbors did not even know that someone was killed so close to wear we live. This Sunday July 25, 2010 at 1 pm at Southlawn United Methodist church at 8600 South Cregier, the Calumet Heights Community Coalitin is planning its 3rd Annual Community Festival. I pray that as a community we can express our sympathy to the family and develop proactive strategies to stop the killing of our young people!
ReplyDeleteYes I used to speak to Paul all the time at Walgreens. It was very shocking to see his memorial picture in the store. I hope they catch the offenders.
